Cory

Drug Use, Depression

Hello, everyone! My name is Cory, and I am here as a Supportive Soul to lend a helping hand to anyone facing similar challenges. I have come a long way in my journey, and I am proud to say that I have been clean from fentanyl, heroin, meth, and crack for 7 1/2 years.

At the age of 16, I made the difficult decision to sign myself out of cas to avoid becoming a crown ward. Throughout my life, I have experienced custody battles, and I understand the complexities and emotional toll they can have.

In addition to overcoming substance abuse, I live with Tourette's syndrome, ADHD, and ADD. Juggling these conditions alongside my responsibilities as a parent to three wonderful kids and as a business owner has taught me resilience and determination. I have also faced the challenges of depression, which I continue to manage.

Furthermore, I have had the experience of recovering from a motorcycle accident that, against all odds, I was not expected to survive. This has given me valuable insights into the medical field and navigating the complexities of healthcare.

I have also gone through toxic relationships, from which I have learned and grown. I am here to share my advice and experiences, no matter how big or small, and I am genuinely happy and healthy. Helping others who may be going through similar struggles holds great meaning for me. I know firsthand the value of having someone by your side during difficult times, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be that support for others.

Despite the challenges I've faced, you may not immediately realize the battles I've fought because I carry a shield of strength. I want to let you know that I am here to help and support you in any way I can.

If you are going through any of the issues I've encountered, please don't hesitate to reach out. Together, we can navigate the hurdles and work towards a brighter future. Your well-being and growth matter to me, and I am honoured to be a part of your journey.

Wishing you strength and courage,

Mathias Oliver

Courtney Dedieu

Drug Use, Abuse

Hello, I'm Courtney Dedieu, a resilient 45-year-old who has navigated a lifetime filled with challenges and triumphs. Over the past 30 months, I've conquered addiction, a journey that demanded confronting and overcoming my inner demons. My history includes enduring sexual, physical, and mental abuse from those who were meant to provide love and support during my formative years. Moreover, I faced the heartbreaking reality of one of my children experiencing sexual abuse while I grappled with addiction. Embracing the truth that we can only move forward, not backward, has been a pivotal aspect of my healing process.
I've sought support through various avenues, engaging with private counsellors and those provided by the province. Participation in NA and Smart Recovery, focusing on cognitive aspects, has taught me the significance of connecting with the right person for genuine progress.
Grief has been a constant companion since losing my father five years ago, manifesting in waves of pain. Some days, I remain silent, while others bring tears when reminiscing about him. The unpredictable nature of each day's emotions is a challenge I face with an open heart.
My relationship with my children has traversed extremes, from near nonexistence to being at its best, only to regress with my daughter. Despite the challenges, my son remains an incredible source of inspiration. Every day, I strive to improve for both of them, driven by his encouragement to "be better." This mantra has become my guiding principle, influencing every aspect of my life.
Returning to school, I received a new diagnosis of ADHD. Surprisingly, since June 5th, I've rediscovered my smile. I had previously thought that being in recovery meant suppressing joy, but I've come to realize I was mistaken. I now embrace life with love and gratitude, appreciating each moment I rise from bed. Positivity permeates everything I do, and I've learned that a simple smile can be a powerful force, brightening not just my day but also the days of those around me, including the person at the checkout counter.
